JUBILATIONS AS FG COMPLETES ROAD IMPROVEMENT WORKS AT GORA –ROGUWA, NASARAWA STATE.
There was jubilation among the people of Gora-Roguwa in Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State as EFO commissioned and completed project in the area.
Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, the Executive Governor of Nassarawa State, Abdullahi Sule, who was represented by his Deputy Emmanuel Akabe, commended the Federal Government and all those who contributed to ensure the project was fully completed. He noted that the project would add value to the community and promised to support the federal government to tackle the menace of ecological problems, assuring its maintenance and sustainability of the project.
Akabe said that Nassarawa is one state bedeviled by ecological problems which is beyond the state government’s capacity. He requested that Nassarawa State be looked at again as almost all the Local Government’s Areas are affected with ecological challenges.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the Minister of State Science and Technology, Barrister Mohammed Abdullahi, who represented His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR; stated that the construction of the Road projects by the Ecological Fund Office in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), had brought succor and huge relief to inhabitants of community with the elimination of gully erosion and flooding in previous years before its construction. The completion of the roads, he added, has raised the economic activities as well the living standards of the community. ‘’Most importantly, it has reduced the dangers to properties associated with erosion and persistent flooding before the Ecological Fund intervention’’ She said.
Barrister Abdullahi, further disclosed that the approval and completion of the road project had confirmed the determination of the present administration that no part of the country will suffer neglect owing to its geographical location or political affiliation.
In her address, the Permanent Secretary, Ecological Fund Office, Dr. Habiba Lawal explained that the road projects was one of the second quarter ,2018 Federal Government ecological projects which contracts were awarded on the 16th of November 2018. She revealed that it was initiated through a request by the Nassarawa state government to arrest persistent erosion and flood menace in Gora- Roguwa road, Karu community and to check further environmental degradation, loss of lives and properties, and that it’s commissioning and handing over to the benefitting community was to ensure its maintenance and sustainability.
