DAURA COMMUNITY COMMENDS FG, PLEDGES SUPPORT TO CONTRACTORS

Residents of Daura town in Katsina State have commended the Federal Government for the intervention project sited in their community.

The Emir of Daura, His Royal Highness Dr. Umar Farouk Umar on behalf of his community, commended the Federal Government for the quick intervention that would bring development to their community and called on the contracting firm to ensure quality work and timely completion as specified in the contract.  He also pledged maximum support of affected community towards the success of the project.

HRH Umar Farouk Umar made the pledge during a pre-project handover and sensitization/awareness creation ceremony at his palace in Daura.  The event was a platform created by EFO to bring together Stakeholders in the project at Daura community.

Earlier in her address, the Permanent Secretary of Ecological Project Office (EFO), Dr. Habiba Lawal, represented by Dr. Joel O. Oruche, Deputy Director/Head, Press & PR Unit stated that the meeting was to flag off the project approved by Mr. President and sensitize the community to cooperate and support the Contractor.  He pointed out that the sensitization was aimed at building bridges of understanding between EFO, Contractors and Host community with a view to resolving issues that may hinder the progress of work.

Dr. Lawal called for peace and cooperation with the Contractor to ensure quality job and timely delivery of the project within the scheduled period of sixteen (16) months.  She advised them on the need to shun rancor, violence, conspiracy and extortion against contractors and by extension the Federal Government.  She therefore urged His Royal Highness, members of the Daura Emirate Council, Community Heads and religious leaders to prevail on their people to support and cooperate with the Government to serve them better.

The project which consists of 8,432meter road improvement work, will also have drainage control.

The Contractor promised to complete the project within the specified period with the required specification and good quality standard.

The Bebejin of Daura, Abba Yahaya while commending the Federal Government pleaded that Daura town be provided waste management facility so as to make the environment clean and habitable.

The event was well attended by Daura Emirate council members, Community Heads, men/women groups and youths who pledged their support for the contractor.  Also present at the event were Directors and Senior Officers from EFO, Contractors, Consultants and members of the Press.
